Lord Shiva is portrayed in an ascetic form with a snake around his neck. He’s got a Trishul or trident in his one hand and a Kamandal on his other hand. He also got a musical instrument called Damaruga, which is basically a small drum in another hand as well. Lord Shiva is worshipped as a lingam that makes every people to recognize him.
