Aquamarine Gemstone

The word aquamarine symbolizes the deep blue waters of the sea. Aqua means ‘water’ and marine means ‘of the sea’. The name obviously comes from the fact that all aquamarines are blue in color.  This blue gemstone is the birthstone for the people born in the month of March and hence called Aquamarine is the birthstone for March.

In India, the gem is know by it trade name ‘Beruj’. It is the birth stone for the month of march and a quality  is  sought after gem.

Aquamarine is the blue, or perhaps more correctly, blue-green or 

Aquamarine is sometimes found in huge crystals (unlike emerald).  It is also known in a glassy form, often without showing crystal form, and sometimes with many holes or other odd shapes.  Other times a large cluster of prismatic crystals can be seen to all have the same alignment - a sign that it is really a single crystal with many faces.

Aquamarine often forms perfect, flawless crystals - also unlike Emerald for which flawless natural crystals are extremely rare.
